ABOUT

My name is Matt Webber and I have been an athletic trainer for over thirty years. I retired from working in high schools my entire career to work on researching athletic training history. Since I was educated in the "old days" before athletic training majors were widely available, I majored in social science with a minor in athletic training, so history has always been one of my interests.

I joined the National Athletic Trainers' Association while a student and have been an active member in my state, district and national associations. I am very proud to be a member of the AzATA, RMATA and NATA Halls of Fame.

The result of my historical research is this website, the Facebook and Twitter pages, and Dropping the Bucket and Sponge. The website is meant to be a resource for practicing athletic trainers, athletic training educators and athletic training students to discover the largely untaught and unknown history of the athletic training profession.

I have much more information than I have time to place on the website or even publish in several books. If you have questions, need resources or know of resources at individual institutions about athletic training history, please use the contact page.

Support this research and website. Buy a book or donate.
